Baby Bonanza!

We have SO many kittens. And when I say SO many kittens, I mean we have: eighteen kittens under eight weeks old, three nine-month-old males, and one momma cat. And we’re expecting another mom and her litter tomorrow or Friday.

That being said, we are up to our ears in kitten vet bills, round-the-clock feeding schedules, and piles of baby laundry!

If you can donate or share, please do!

Pledge to Save Lives!

Great news! Wizard, our terrier mix, was adopted today! 🙂

On the other hand, we are still swamped with momma cats and their kittens (three litters so far) and dog intake requests (we have three more dogs coming in this week!). We CANNOT continue to help animals without our community support! Even five dollars goes a long way towards a spay or neuter or a bag of food!

Please give what you can!

Raining Cats and Dogs!

It’s been a busy week here, as always!

Momma Marmalade and her five kittens came in on Friday, and all are doing well with supplemental feeds! She is grooming them and caring for them despite the fact that she is very young and extremely underweight. It’s likely that her poor body condition contributed to her inability to lactate.

Wizard, Cookie, and Peanut are all doing really well in their foster homes, and Wizard already has an interested applicant!

We’re doing some pretty big things with our local wildlife rescue center, which we’ll update on later!

Finally, we’re meeting one of our rescue friends to take in another momma kitty, Juniper, who gave birth to five kittens outside… tragically, despite her rescuer’s best efforts, only two kittens survived the outdoors long enough for her to bottle feed, but they did not survive either. Juniper’s story is a reminder of why spaying and neutering is SO vital to healthy pets. On top of Juniper’s entire litter passing away, Juniper has multiple health concerns of her own, including a severe eye infection and retained fetal tissue, that we are addressing. So far her vet bill is already $175. If you would like to contribute to Juniper’s care, please visit our YouCaring page!

We will share photos of Juniper later!

Adoptable!: Peanut, and Cookie; Adopted!: Wizard

Wizard, Peanut, and Cookie are three cute brothers who are looking for a new family or families!
Please read the entire post before contacting us about these precious guys!

Wizard is a seven-year-old (July 2010) neutered male terrier mix weighing about 25 pounds. He is laid back, friendly, and would make a great addition to any household! He would likely prefer a home without very young children under six, as he’s very mellow and probably would appreciate those with a similar lifestyle. 🙂 Wizard is small-medium sized, fully house trained and crate trained, vaccinated, neutered, flea free, and ready to go! He is good with other dogs, fine with respectful children, and unknown with cats and other animals.

Peanut is a two-year-old (July 2015) neutered male dachshund weighing about 17 pounds. He is a bit wary of strangers, but warms up quickly to understanding people! Like Wizard, Peanut has been raised with young, respectful children, but would do best in a home without children under six, as he does not want to be picked up or chased. Peanut is a bit anxious, and will alert bark at strangers coming into the house, but is not aggressive or yappy. Peanut is small-sized, house trained (with rare incidents of nervous peeing) and crate trained, vaccinated, neutered, flea free, and ready to go! He is good with other dogs, okay with respectful children, and unknown with cats and other animals.

Cookie is a two-year-old (July 2015) neutered male chihuahua weighing about 12 pounds. He is a bit wary of strangers, but warms up quickly to understanding people! Like Wizard and Peanut, Cookie has been raised with young, respectful children, but would do best in a home without children under six, as he does seems to prefer calm, quiet environments where he won’t be chased or grabbed. Cookie is not aggressive or yappy. Cookie is small-sized, house trained and crate trained, vaccinated, neutered, flea free, and ready to go! He is good with other dogs, okay with respectful children, and unknown with cats and other animals.
Peanut and Cookie are EXTREMELY bonded and will NOT be separated for adoption. They MUST be adopted together, as they have been together since they were four months old.
Wizard is adoptable for a fee of $100, and Peanut and Cookie are adoptable together for a fee of $150.

This Week at TFF…

We got opossums! Yep, the only marsupial native to the United States!

We humanely caught, neutered, and vaccinated three male kitties from a local colony. We will continue working with this colony until all cats are TNR’ed (Trap-Neuter-Released or Rehomed), so stay tuned for more! These guys are nine months old and will be adoptable starting 4/30.

Bentley got vaccinated!

And tonight three smaller male dogs come into foster care as well! We will update as we learn more about these boys!

Update: Fred!

He’s in the process of getting certified to be a therapy dog. He loves his new home and watching Grey’s Anatomy with the room mates every night. He loves walks on the trail and hates getting up early. He’s come to work with me. He’s so good with adults with autism spectrum disorders. He’s super gentle and patient with them.

Bentley the Mastiff

Bentley came to us well-loved. His human family was splitting up and felt they couldn’t keep him, so he wound up with us! While Bentley was truly loved by both his human family AND his dog parents, he never got out of the house to socialize with other dogs or people and has rarely, if ever, been on a leash until now. Because of this, we are currently working with Bentley until he settles in enough to be prepared for a new home!

He will also need to be neutered and vaccinated before adoption. If you’d like to help with Bentley’s costs, please visit our GoFundMe!
